Anyone using a separate phone for their Libre?

I don't have a smartphone. So they first gave me the a5x specially manufactured by abbot for the libre.
But I didn't want a smartphone for religious reasons. So with a lot of work I managed to get hold of the official libre reader. Even though they have stopped manufacturing them.

I have been accepted for the Freestyle Libre but my phone is apparently not compatible even though it is an Android level 9 and the recommended list I was sent as got "old" phones on according to the mobile rep.

Most android phone works along side the Libre 2 reader you must scan the reader first then the phone. I use a Samsung 12 and have no problems with it.

I don't want to use a phone as I'm quite content to use the reader that Abbot supplies. It's smaller than a phone, simple to use and built for the job. No worrying about phone upgrades!

I have an iPhone SE and the App won't work on that, but to honest I am not particularly worried - I take readings a dozen or so times a day, the Libre 2 has the warning alarms and I upload regularly to see all the statistical stuff and keep my medical team up to date.
If the App doesn’t work how do you get readings and how do you communicate with your medical team?

I use the reader for Libre 2.

I bring the reader to my appointment and when I check in for my appointment, they plug the reader in to their computer to get the data and they print off the charts for the doctor to go over with me. They don't see anything from me between appointments.

I'm in Germany and Germany in general is very protective of personal data, so my doctor has said this is the only way they will take the data from me. If in scan with the app, they would go over the data directly on my phone at my appointment. Your experience may vary.

Yep, I got my Libre back in September. My current mobile phone is incompatible with the Libre App, so my team gave me a NUU A5X handset to use with it.

I'm the same as JG. I just use the Libre 2 reader itself and it does everything and more that I want- the most important to my mind being the high and low glucose alarm facilities and also what doses of insulin you've taken and how many carbs for meals. It's also small enough to fit in the pocket when going outside so you don't have to be have to be in any way high tech orientated to operate it. I've never liked putting all your eggs in one basket so to speak; so this way if you lose or break your phone you are still aok by having the seperate Libre 2 reader on you.

My Moto G7 Play mobile isn't compatable as has no NFC. I was given a NUU A5X from my diabetic team to use. Looks like a mobile phone but is just used to monitor the Libre 2 sensor. Works great. Only trouble is I have to carry mobile phone AND the monitor now.

I use the Samsung galaxy s9 and never had a problem with it, have you done all the software updates on the phone?

Update - had first 24hrs with Libre2. Mixed feeling - very surprised by how high in the night and therefore waking this morning. Checked with fingerprick - 2mmol lower than CGM. Highest ever been but did drop an hour later for breakfast when I took my insulin.

The Libre app works on my iPhone SE. In addition, I use a cheap LG phone with a DiaBox app that receives readings from the Libre via a Bubble Mini.

My phone Samsung A12 isn't listed either, but is compatible. Luckily I rang to speak to them in person. They will check for you as I do not think their list is totally comprehensive for some reason. But if your phone is not compatible, then using a separate phone seems logical to me. Might be a good idea to check which phones are going to be compatible with the libre 3 before upgrading any phones. That list may be different.
