Apidra Solostar with Toujeo Solostar

This is my first question. I recently had a new doctor who changed my background insulin from Lantus Solostar to Toujeo Solostar and having used it for two weeks I found that I was very confused and feeling dizzy quite often. My original doctor told that the Toujeo insulin is not compatible with my Fast acting Apidra and I have reverted back to using Lantus. I am nearly 67 years old and my original doctor said that the new Toujeo was not suitable for a person of my age. As they are produced by the same company, Sanofi, I was surprised that I could not see anything warning me against this. I have been Type 1 since 1983 and have also cognitive impairment problems originally diagnosed as dementia. I would appreciate any comments form anyone who has had similar experiences. Thank you.
