ive just changed onto the silhouette infusion sets as a few of you maybe aware from my many previous posts i was having issues with quick set...

well first question... when the nurse helped me insert in on thursday it was fine however soon started to feel tender and has been tender until this morning when i changed it and now i have the new 1 in it's also tender... is this normal?

second question... i know im only new to the pump however on the quickset (once i had it inserted correctly) gave pretty much consistant readings however they have now risen on the silhouette again is this normal?

Hi

Not sure how things are for you now but have a look at:
http://infusion.marketport.dk/productse ... t=19&Shop={1C2FC5B1-2B45-4267-AA34-E84E1D17E71C}&show=yes

It shows an infusion set called the Comfort which is more or less the same as the Silhouette and the Tenderlink. If you click on the Visual guide you can see step by step how to insert the set. It doesn't show the inserter but you might be better off not using that and just putting the set in yourself by hand (use iceblock or pack of frozen peas to numb the skin)

For some it is normal for bg levels to go up a bit first after putting in a new set. Sometimes this is due to not priming the set correctly or just that the body needs time to accept the new set. What some people do is use the old set for a few hours after putting in the new one. Then swopping over to the new one.

thanks ihs, unfortunately the link didnt work... im looking into maybe trying some different infusion sets however little worried about cost... i know i dont pay and the hospital does but feel guilty about going for something more expensive. i heard about the mio and was wonderinf what the difference was betwee that and the quickset? it's pointless me trying it if the only difference is the inserter

Hi

Sorry about the link not working

Have a look at this link http://www.infusion-set.com/index.asp?pageID=H58

Click on the links on the left for the Comfort and Inset II. The Inset II is the same infusion set as the Mio. The Comfort is the same (as I said) as the Tenderlink and Silhouette

I found the webpage really helpful when I wanted instructions for putting infusion sets in. I just sat in front of my PC monitor looking at the step by step Visual Guide

This is getting frustrating now!!! Spoken to both DSN and medtronic about the infusion set and what have you... DSN said to stick with the silhouette and that it was just the site i was using causing the issues im now having, so i have changed where im sticking the damned thing and it hasnt changed... uncontrolable itching and really tender :( i still have huge red raw welts on my tummy from where i have used the silhouette infusion sets :(
