Hi, has anybody tried apple and cinnamon water please, I have read this can aide weight lose and enhance your natural insulin to work better. As I am type 2 thought I might give it a try, I am following a low carb diet and lost 5 1/2 lbs first two weeks but, last two weeks I have only lost a few oz. Thanks everyone

No apple and cinnamon won't cure diabetes, and it won't magically repair your insulin resistance.
Also if you want to loose weight there is no other way than eating less and training. Drinking apple and cinnamon water won't do anything for health or weight, it will only help you keep hydrated just like regular water.

You mean eating fewer carbs...
Training did nothing for my weight loss ... over 20 years I got fatter and fatter.
Cutting carbs to the bone was the key.

No, I meant eating less of everyting, carbs only have 4 calories, while fat has 9 calories per g. So reducing fat as well (not only carbs) will make it easier to loose weight. Also training alone won't work, it has to be combined with a healthy diet of course.

But my point was that cinnemon and apple water won't help with anything other than hydration.

That's assuming that the calories in calories out CICO hypothesis is correct.. personally I have read enough to believe it has significant flaws and that extended caloric restriction has a short term effect in weight loss (weight down) but when carried out for extended periods has a negative effect - Resting Metabolic Rate down (weight back up). This is certainly my own experience.
The calorie difference between fat and carbs is meaningless if, as I believe, the body processes each in different ways.

But I will agree that apple and cinnamon water is unlikely to have a great effect although it is unlikely to be detrimental.. might be worth a try if the OP thinks it may help.. placebo effect perhaps..

Hi I have not tried apple and cinnamon water myself. Did you catch "Doctor in the House" this week? On it a lad lost weight and improved his insulin resistance considerably by eating stewed apples with cinnamon (for fibre and healthy gut bacteria). Interesting episode. It's on the iplayer.

Resting Metabolic Rate down are just a result of stopping the diet or exercisimg. Losing weight have some of the same problems as dealing with type 2 diabetes.

You can loose weight or lower HbA1c by diet and exercise, but if you stop the bloodsugar and weight will get back up again. Eating less of carbs are of course good for the bloodsugar, but cutting some fat as well will make it easier to keep the weight down.

Unfortunally there aren't any quick fixes or 3 months plan that fixes blood sugar and keeps the weight down. It has to be a lifestyle. When it comes to placebo it only works for hypochondriac, so even how much placebo cinnamon water gives it won't help you lose weight or lowering your HbA1c.

You do know Doctor in the house are british comedy serie?

Sometimes getting rid of bodyfat can be a problem with the composition of the microbios in the gut. If you follow Kiki an 11 year old boy's problem in the BBC's Doctor in the house, he was overweight and found he had high blood sugar levels 32+, his body was not efficient at burning fat and absorbing insulin.

After changing his diet, which surprisingly was not that bad anyway, his blood sugar levels came down to 10 and he was loosing weight fast. The doctor highlighted Apples and Cinnamon as being beneficial to the microbios in the gut. He did point out that apple is beneficial for the gut but can spike the blood sugar but cinnamon can reduce that and help with insulin sensitivity. Worth a watch.

As a note of caution... not all cinnamon's are created equal, some cinnamon on the market is poor quality and too much can be toxic. Organic Ceylon Cinnamon is the best variety but always do your own research before buying.

Yes Avocado sevenfol d that's what made me start looking in to it, but as I am trying to stick to 30 carbs or less a day I didn't want to do the two apples stewed as he suggested as that would take me over my levels straight away , and have read putting it in water you don't get the carbs

Did you notice Kiki was given a supplement too? Maybe it was a probiotic or something. I wonder if that would help you in the same way.

Be sure to report back if you try the apple and cinnamon water. As long as you are testing yourself, you can't go far wrong really. Good luck.

PS - Just to be clear, when I mentioned Kiki in the post above, I meant the boy in the documentary and not the wee Frog in Hector's House. I can't be too careful

I also watched that programme I emailed BBC turns out that an external company produce Doctor int he House (the serious one) I am desperate to aid my non existent weight loss, which in turn will help my blood sugar go down, I have emailed the company but as yet ,no joy...the thing is I want to know what apples, how much cinnamon, little things like that make a difference. Plus they mentioned a RAinbow diet, I'm not stupid I get what it means but again portion and quantities are needed to not screw up any more than necessary.....if anyone knows anything please share thanks

Low carb will reduce your blood glucose - weightloss might happen at the same time, but my diabetes education team were completely bewildered when my results came back so low and I had not lost much weight.
It is, I think, all part of the blame the patient policy - diabetes being considered the result of being overweight rather than the reverse.
If you eat to your meter, so that your increase in blood glucose is two whole numbers or less for each meal then you should see your numbers reducing - with any luck.
Mine drifted down a little each week as long as I stuck to similar amounts of carbs each day, so from 8 mmol/l they are now usually under 7
