Hello, I am trying to help a young woman apply for Adult Disability Payment but found the form does not lend itself easily to detail problems with managing diabetes. Has anyone else come across this and how is it being tackled. She has had Type 1 since childhood and received no form of benefit as an adult.

At least in England T1 by itself does not qualify you for PIP, some problems caused by diabetes can allow you to, but not just having it

Though I dont know how different it is in Scotland

Here is some information about the move from UK based PIP to the new Scottish system. Unlike in England they are offering a service to help advocate for people.
As far as I am aware you still qualify based on the impact on your life rather than any particular disease.

Originally from Wales but have lived in Scotland since 2001 ( my accent is certainly different ) ,i have been diabetic for 43 years only received PIP after my leg amputation , I’m not saying you won’t get PIP for diabetes alone, as it’s been previously stated it’s all how your “ disability “ affects your day to day life, the forms can be an absolute nightmare , my advice would be to get the CAB to help fill your forms in explaining exactly how your affected ,
