Hi all,
I am a type 1 diagnosed in Jan 2009. I am from Australia and have not exchanged my licence for a british licence until now as this hasn't been necessary, I'm in the process of filling out the paperwork at the moment. I have good control and can't remember the last time I had a hypo and I am under GP care - am I correct in assuming they will need to contact him to verify information? How long does this usually take?
In Australia the process is quite simple - take a form to your dr, get him to fill it out and take it to the transport office and they amend your drivers licence and hand it straight back to you, so to me this application process seems quite drawn out and I am quite apprehensive! The DVLA also seems quite a lot stricter than their Australian counterparts - can anyone give me some more information on the process?
Many thanks!
