I had my 3 month appointment with the GP today, well it was 2 1/2 months but I thought by the time I saw the nurse for my blood test it would be 3 months. Typically I have an appointment for Thursday. The GP seemed pleased with the progress I had made - cutting out sugar, losing weight, cutting down (oops I forgot to say how much) carbs but of course the blood test will say for definite. I am cautiously optimistic but also very nervous. I can't get an appointment with the same GP for at least 2 weeks so will phone up for the results but make sure they tell me every number although I thought whilst they were taking blood I would have my thyroid, calcium and vitamin D checked as well as cholesterol and Hb1ac.

I hope you get some good results. You seem to be doing all the right things.

Best wishes

Doug

;)I also just came back from my follow-up with my PCP and she confirmed that yes, I was definitely diabetic even though the BG is not very high. There had also been a reduction in the BG numbers since the first time I was tested, most likely due to my change in diet, so I'm confident that I can bring my BG down to a healthy level without Rx Meds.

I had some other tests done today too, including one to see if there has been any damage to my pancreas or other organs. I'll know the results in a few days.

My PCP was very emphatic about the fact that I was definitely in the diabetic BG and AH1 range even though the numbers are not that high. I guess she didn't want to me have any false hope about whether a change in my diet and lifestyle was needed.

I was able to get the Gluocometer Kit and I hope to be able to figure it out and try it tonight.

It is good that your blood glucose levels are heading in the right direction. Good diet and good exercise can only help.

Take care

Thanks, Doug.
I am too tired right now :dead: to try the Glucometer kit, but I read through the instructions and I will probably try it out tomorrow.
I've known a substantial number of people who were diabetic and who took daily readings, but, it's a little strange having to do this for myself now. I look forward to getting the hang of it so I don't have to think too much about it, kind of like brushing one's teeth I guess.

I currently live in one of the coldest regions in the world, Upper Midwest USA, and that has played a part in why I don't walk and exercise (cheaply) as much as I have done back on the East-Coast. In fact, aside from the relatively lower crime-rate, I don't think that this region has been good for my overall health, as I have acquired some serious illnesses here. I've also speculated whether the lack of Vitamin D due to less direct sunlight exposure has caused some of my health problems. I am looking forward to going back home to an Oceanic climate and more nautical lifestyle.
