I am searching to see if there are any apps that will recommend insulin dosing for an individual with Type I, and gastroparesis. They currently use the Libre glucose sensors, and are receiving a discount from the Mfg., because of their low income and lack of insurance. So, they prefer to stay with the Libre. They are doing multiple daily injections and operating on the basis of compensating for high blood sugar after they eat. They are not taking any insulin with meals (since they don't know if a meal is going to be digested right away).
It is my understanding that current insulin pump technology is considered hybrid, in that they require the user to enter the number of carbohydrates they eat at a meal. Since gastroparesis interferes with digestion, those individuals would experience alarms frequently enough, that using a pump is not viable. Though, this individual would prefer to stay with MDI, even if pump technology were better adapted to patients with gastroparesis.
Any suggested apps to investigate?
