Are self check blood glucose tests reliable

The surgery told me hbac1 test is ok.
I’ve got symptoms of high blood sugar so did a Self check blood glucose test.

Does anyone know if these are reliable and I’m finding it difficult to compare colours.
It looks like 300 or 500.
I fasted on both tests and result is same.
I’m on a diet and cutting drastically in sugar etc but been getting headaches and sore mouth today and yesterday.

thanks

Can you tell us the brand and type of the self test you use?
Usually self tests where you test blood give you a number, not a colour.

Or do you mean you are using those pee sticks?

I am not sure what test you are doing, - can you give more details?
It can be a bit of a shock to the system to suddenly abstain from carbs - particularly if concentrating on sugars, and the results can be unpleasant if your brain is used to high glucose levels. Maybe take things a little easier to allow time for adjustment.
I ate low carb whenever I could get away with it for a long time before being diagnosed with type 2 and always felt far better eating Atkins style than on a high carb low fat 'healthy' diet.

Hi,

Sounds like you’re looking at or trying to compare the protein results on a urine test kit..

Does the chart with the kit look anything like this?
