Are you a Egghead?

Since being diagnosed with diabetes type 2 in Sept 2008 I have greatly cut down on carbs, eated real butter, cream, cheese etc and greatly increased my intake of eggs. I must eat about 10 or even more a week. My cholesterol test I had last week, was much lower than this time last year. Up with eggs and real butter etc

Our forefathers knew just how health giving eggs are. They are also versatile.
I had a couple fried with bacon for my lunch.

Well there you go - I knew I was right to carry on eating eggs! They are such a real convenience food and I was always told that they were good for the brain (and recovering from hangovers.....)

This is from the British Heart Foundation and doesn't put any limits on the amount that can be consumed.

The recommendation on how many eggs you can eat has changed over the years and is a common source of confusion. In the past we recommended a restriction on eggs because we thought that foods high in cholesterol (including liver, kidneys and shellfish, as well as eggs) could have an impact on cholesterol levels.

However, as research in this area has developed so has our understanding of how foods that contain cholesterol affect people’s heart health. This means we have changed our recommendation and there is currently no limit on the number of eggs that can be eaten in a week.

I love eggs too, but has anyone tried, or do they eat duck eggs?

I often see these at farmers markets but have not tried them yet, they always seem to be on the expensive side, but if anyone recommends them I may give them a go.

Hi Nigel :)

Duck eggs are larger, richer and more filling. Do try them, they are delicious! :D

Nice one lovinglife.....................your my mate for life! :D

Both my wife and I are addicted to Eggheads and never miss a program, but that CJ we cannot stand, he is so full of himself and the sight of him continually pulling faces is more than I can bear!

Have you noticed that CJ and Daphne are always wanting to see Judith go out, they seem disappointed when she beats the contestant................ :?

I was a contestant on Eggheads a couple of years ago and I really didn't like CJ. :| The rest were very friendly though :D My favourite no-carb lunch is poached eggs on spinach. Yummy!

I thought as much!

Poached egg on spinach sounds nice, try frying the spinach in a small amount of olive oil and add a chopped garlic clove...........simply delicious! :D

Duck eggs are ok, has anyone tried quail eggs here??
We had quails a while back, they lay tiny eggs but are delicious when hard boiled on salad  xxx
