A gp is not an expert in anything and diabetes is a complex condition. Even a diabetic consultant doesn't know it all. In fact after several years of seeing mine as child he became diabetic and then phoned my mother to ask what he could eat!!
I refuse to see my nurse at the gp's as she is condescending and knows nothing. Apparently I am a naughty diabetic because I was given a pump and had no appointments for 3 years and no help in sorting my levels- my poor glucose control whilst I tried to level it was all my fault. She couldn't possibly help.
