I have noticed they only work for a period (maybe a week). If you don't look at that thread for a while, you don't get an alert for it. If you then look at it again, the flags continue to work for another period of maybe a week.

Hadn't spotted that pattern. Thank you.

I'll keep my eye out for any flags on posts that were last active ages ago... (because I simply can't help testing theories... )
