For many years i am escaping the dark cold winters here in Finland and spend 4 months in SE Asia . But 7 months ago got diagnosed type 1. With especially low carb diet got mine HbA1c to 5.8 %. Would like to keep it there. On Lantus & Novorapid .Diabetes is not going to stop me ,what i love to do for so many years and will continue to travel SE Asia. Starting in Bali next week . Only worries are is the food. Always eating out, but rice, noodles, potatoes & bread are no good for me anymore. Looking for advice when its diner time in Asia. How to life low carb in Indonesia ? Many thanks for any tips

Konjac or shirataki noodles are very low carb, tofu is about 1.9g per 100g,

Indonesian cuisine from Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Indonesian_dishes

If it were me, I'd contact the Indonesian Embassy in Finland ask for the tourism section, explain that you're newly diagnosed and want to eat low carbohydrate food, If you give some examples off the Wiki page, explaining any tweaks you have to make, and tell them where you are planning on going, maybe they could offer further suggestions.

I'd also ask for a PDF with a phrase like ' I have diabetes, I'm on insulin and need to eat low carbohydrate food, thank you' in whatever language(s) they speak there. Over 9 million people in Indonesia have diabetes, over 5% of the population according to IDF so hopefully they will be able to help.

Congrats on the HbA1c btw
