Aspartame

I stopped drinking diet coke and was previously suffering with my feet being uncomfortable and having difficulty walking. It only took a week to notice a difference and now six weeks later I can now walk better and am going to start exercising again. It probably effects different people in different ways.

Hi. A few points. The amount of Aspartame in fizzy drinks is far higher than the amount in a tablet for sweetening tea or coffee. Can someone point me to scientific proof, not rumour, that aspartame actually has caused harm in humans as opposed to rats. There is no difference chemically between 'artificial' and 'natural' chemicals; a molecule is a molecule. Some natural foods are poisonous and many artificial ones aren't; it all depends on the specific chemicals present artificial or not and whether they are poisonous or not. So, as I posted earlier, I will continue having artificial sweeteners and avoid too much 'natural' sugar which is proven to be harmful due to it's ability to raise blood sugar levels and add to obesity :D
Hi,Daibell

I can probably see your point, Maybe time can give give you a better reply. Many thought the same about cigs or just to earm ££

Our experts can sometimes get it wrong, even Dr Steven Novella might be wrong.

Naturally there is a lot of wild wild claims regarding artificial sugars.

When people on this forum have experienced a problem with Aspartame as they have, that is fact and not a rummer or scam.

So what is this adding up to.Definitely not scaremongering I hope.

Should we stop ingesting artificial sweeteners when there is natural sugars available for diabetes ?

Roy. :)
