after all the faffing about over the last few weeks, of my bloods failing blah blah blah!!

i went into the nurse, at dx in may, my cholesterol was 4.6....it is now 4.5

anf 3 months ago at dx my Hba was 7% and at the time the nurse was hoping with hard work i could get it down to 6.4............well its 5.9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so happy!!! the nurse is thrilled and said all the hard work has paid off!!

i worked my butt of for them results

then i had the pneumonia jab...ouch!! lol

my hubby wha came in with me, said he was so thrilled and proud of me...he felt teary in the nurses office lol

Well done Roxy, at 5.9% you can consider yourself well under control with greatly reduced risks of complications.

Now you know what you have to do just make sure you stick at it, I think your HbA1c is excellent in a relatively short time.

It may even come down some more with a bit more time.

thnx Halli and Viviennem,

no anxiety this time thank god!!,

of course i was told to eat more carbs lol...and i was asked how often i would like my Hba, i said every 3 months plz, so i have something to aim for, fine she said!!,

i'm very proud of myself, with losing 25lb too, not many times i say that about myself lol xxx

You should be proud of yourself, losing 25lb in 3 months - that's a good rate and it should stay off.

This time round it's taken me 15 months to lose 50lbs, so many congratulations again! Doesn't it make you feel great?

well done to you too Viv, wow 50lbs!!! have you done it with your own diet or a group? i'm with slimming world,, it iks a good feeling when things are going our way )))))

No group, I just soldier on alone eating my Modified Atkins diet (as per sticky thread) and thoroughly enjoying it! As I've posted elsewhere, I've been having a summer fruit binge recently which has slowed me down again, too many carbs - but this time I'm eating for my blood glucose not my weight, which means I don't stress about the scales!

I've also been drinking a bit more wine than I did the first time I did Atkins, which slows things down - last time I lost 50lbs in five months! and about 80lbs in 18 months. It all went back on again over a four-year period. This time I have to stick to it - many thanks to my Type 2, and to my meter which is better support than any slimming club!

I don't mind admitting that I still have another 80lbs to lose, so it's a long-term job. This time I have to do it, and I will do it! Watch this space (well no, this is your space, Roxy - maybe I'll start a Viv's weight-loss thread to update occasionally!)

Re-reading that, simple arithmetic tells me I have to halve my body-weight from diagnosis  - I really was eating for two! Never mind - half-a-stone at a time

Roxy - you should be chuffed with an HbA1c of 5.9! Well done!

Congratulations on both your weight loss and your new A1c Roxy its brilliant news, be proud, chuffed, made up and all the other clichés you can think of

aww thank you very much everyone....the numbers mean nothing to any other commoner lol, but to us they mean a lot, and i could not wait to get home and share with you all,

oh viv you make me laugh lol,

i know what you mean about losing and gaining , i have done it for many years, but the diabetes makes you realise this aint a game anymore, and its made something click at last, its my saving grace to be honest,

i do adjust my carbs on slimming world, and check my sugar with everything new, xx

Congratulation, well done Roxy. You must have worked good and hard to get such a good result. I'll get mine next Monday and I hope I've done well too. Though I doubt as well as you have.

Well done Roxt,
It's good to read positive news

Where does Sid get all his extra smilies from?

I just nick them from other forums, actually nick is the wrong word as they are all open source.

Ive added some to a web page that you can access here, help yourselves if you want to post a smiley into the forum simply open the page in a new window and right click the smiley and then click copy image location then return to the forum click the img tag when making a post and paste the copied link in between the brackets, sounds harder than it is

If Admin wants to copy some to this forum feel free to as I said their all open source

I had to go to properties to find the location, it's not in the list of options when I right click, but it worked.

Sorry Roxy for the hijack

.........Thanks Sid!

Very well done Roxy!
