At what BG level do you find polyuria kicks in?

How high do you find your BG has to be before the excess-peeing kicks in?

I ask because I'm either in the pre-diabetes phase of T2, or the honeymoon period of T1 (37, skinny, fit, no metabolic features). We have both T2 and T1 in the family.

One of the major 'symptoms' I have is polyuria, but yesterday my (non-diabetes) endo said that only my very highest readings (20+ mmol/l) would cause that, so he didn't think that my polyuria (4-8 litres/day) was linked to my blood sugar.

I have low-normal fasting levels, but I'm glucose intolerant and, unless I absolutely avoid all carbs, my daily readings look like the himalayas (I have peaks up to 22 and troughs down to 3.4). Apparently it looks more like pre-T1 spluttering pancreas than insulin resistance, but only time will tell. I initially had a meter to track my addison's, as low-BG is an indicator of low-cortisol, and started using it more after I got the surprise hypers as well as the expected hypos.

Thanks for any info - I realise that we are all different, just wondered if I'm totally off base in thinking that even in the mid-teens I seem to wee more.

Ta!
