Could anyone advise of the total carbs in the Atkins advantage shakes please?
I intend to order some over the internet but am concerned that the product picture only displays the net carbs.

It also doesn't mention if the net carb's are per portion or for the whole 370g (per portion i'm guessing).

Any experiences with these shakes or similar would be much appreciated. I'm going mad eating meat and veg everyday so am looking for some really low carb alternatives.

I've just had the vanilla one delivered today. Wanted them for a variation on breakfast more than anything as am getting fed up of having to get up and cook bacon and egg. Will try it in the morning and let you know what I think of it. Hope its tasty and not minging

I used Atkins shakes for week 1-4 of the Newcastle diet (shakes only). The shakes are 3g cabs. They come in two flavours only, vanilla and chocolate. You can order then from the low carb mega store, but Boots are cheaper and they deliver quicker. They do have a slight powder after taste, and I have the proper Atkins shaker, but are palatable enough. Not sure I would describe the vanilla one as ice cream, but they are ok. It was hard just two flavours for three meals over four weeks and no solid food so I did also buy the ready made ones, but found they didn't fill me like the powder.

What do you add to the powder shakes i.e. water , milk etc etc ? Or is it optional?

Atkins Advantage shakes have 3g of net carbohydrate if made up with water (per instructions on the tub). If you used 250ml skimmed milk instead, total net carbs would be much higher - about 15.5gm, so not a great idea if you want very low carb. I have used a couple of tubs full of Atkins Advantage vanilla shake mix - whilst the taste is not offensive, it isn't so great either.

An alternative to using Atkins shakes is to use Tesco shakes - but make then up with unsweetened soya milk. Total calories are about the same as the Atkins shakes made with water - but net carbs are about 14gm. There are two big plusses to the Tesco shakes - they are MUCH cheaper (about 33p per meal for the shake powder against 150p for the Atkins shakes) and they taste way better, a bit like melted vanilla ice cream.

+1 yes, 3g mixed with water. I chose not to use Tesco or Slimfast as they are too high in carbs, but Andrew is right Atkins are more expensive, but the trade of with low carbs made it a no brainer for me. I also believe Tesco and Slimfast have more flavour options?
