I think its on tomorrow (wednesday 6th June) I also think it features Drs David and Jen Unwin. They are from a programme that I missed called The Truth About
I know that you are a strong supporter of keto diets, but I believe that Dr Unwin is not closely associated with keto, so I imagine that could be disappointing to ketophiles. I get the impression that this prog is a repeat of one from last year. Trust Me I'm a Doctor springs to mind. I think they did the Cracker test.Having read those links I am looking forward to it a lot less than I was...
All very true.. I will still watch and see what the "Shout at the TV ometer "says!I know that you are a strong supporter of keto diets, but I believe that Dr Unwin is not closely associated with keto, so I imagine that could be disappointing to ketophiles. I get the impression that this prog is a repeat of one from last year. Trust Me I'm a Doctor springs to mind. I think they did the Cracker test.
I have to admit that what I have seen from the clips, it will be just LC-ish, and mainly GI and resistant starch centered. But that is a valid diet for many T2D to use (IMHO), and nonetheless is an improvement on Eatwell or Eat-all diets that the NHS supports. It will be a variation of the Mediterranean and South Beach diets that were popular a few years back, and will benefit not only diabetics, but mainstream public as well, which as a public provider, the Beeb has to cater for.
Agree with that 100% well pitched for all and made it sound intriguing and nice to do which is a huge benefit.Well I liked it. Considering that the majority of T2 diabetics do not use forums for their information, then I felt it was pitched in their direction, and put the principles of LC lifestyle quite succinctly and in a way that will not frighten them (i,e, it was not in the Panorama mold). I tried to imagine myself as a Newbie seeing it for the first time, and it worked for me. I felt it was empowering and just the right energy level to enthuse the viewers.
I was interested in the closing remarks about the plan being rolled out shortly to GP's and online too. I wonder if David Unwin still visits here. He used to have a username, but that is not showing as active now, so I think he has moved on. Shame, I think we need more info on these releases so we can help spread the word.
Kind of agree (amazingly) but the look on the guy's face said it all and was one of the more heart warming moments so I think we can forgive them just this once... it was after all a populist TV program that has done more to publicise the low carb message than reams of scientific studies ever could (slightly unfortunately I agree).I had huge problems tho with the assertion that 2 weeks of a lowered carb diet had put a man with A diagnosis of T2 for 17years into “partial remission” and that another month or so would see his diabetes “resolved” . I think making those sorts of assertions based on the difference between hba1c’s taken 2 weeks apart is simplistic, misleading pseudoscience and should be highlighted as such, whatever approach it is applied to
So will a chartaten in order to keep people buying whatever snake oil he / she is sellingA skilled GP will say whatever is needed to motivate someone to keep doing what is working....
