Avatar help?

I'd like to create an avatar on this forum, preferably from one of my own photos, but can't seem to manage it. I'm using a Mac and my photos are all stored in Photo. Please can anyone offer some techical help?

You will have to resize one of your photos, as it is recommended that you use an image that is at least 200 x 200 pixels.

Save picture to your mac desktop
open it in preview
go to "tools" then "adjust size"
make it about 40 pixels per inch and you should be ok.
