Hello fellow Type 2's, I was diagnosed in 2013, My treatment at first was lantus and nova rapid and I was doing great; loosing weight bouncing back etc.. Over the next 3 years my GP insisted I should come off insulin injections and have metformin,
After a a few trial and errors I was put on 1000gm twice a day slow release and now I suffer with water, retention fatigue and I'm over weight.
I have recently competed a loading course of B12 injections due to the chronic fatigue I was suffering but I kept trooping on, blood test results were really low and a phone call to start the treatment immediately made me google! I know I know! however the results did show me metformin users can develop a B12 deficiency and a report form the Royal college of surgeons NI was was an interesting read.
Recently I was at my diabetes clinic and sat in the waiting room I had this discussion with a lovely fellow patient who said oh yeah wait until you become gluten intolerant! so again I googled (I know) and yes there it was water retention fatigue bloated and gluten intolerance. I mentioned this to the Dr, who was quite passive and quickly changed the subject and gave me no advice.
Has anyone else suffered this?
I have now gone gluten free-ish and lost weight, my water retention is under control (no cankles) in under a month and I feel a bit misinformed
Please an anyone advise
thank you in advance
