Came hoime froim work. Found 3 baby robins on my back garden patio. Mum and dad are chirping and near baby birds we tried to feed them. They are mestlings, dod I take them out of box and leave them on a thr grass cuttings I dont know what to do for the best, I'm hoping mum and dad will do something we have got the cats in so the babies are safe. I think I need to take them out of the box, but I still haven't had my dinner yet and daughter is still up. Please help thanks

If they're safe from cats, let them out and watch Mum & Dad. If the babies have fledged then they'll encourage the babies to fly away to safety. If you leave them in the box the parents might abandon them. You could also lift them carefully into a tree or bush where the parents will be able to reach them.

Watch them in case there are any neighbourhood cats.

Thank you but these are very young birds just nestlings they are scrunny looking with downy feathers mum and dad are still going to them, they have been taken out of the box and are on grass cuttings, but its getting dark and they will need warmth  as you can see from my name they are my favourites I want to help them so much

 They are such a lovely visitor to the garden-I wish I knew what to suggest other than instinct which would tell me to bring them in tonight and phone the RSPB in the morning for their advice,at least they would be safe from night predators until then which is the most important thing right now.

Are there shrubs and bushes around your patio? Try poking around and see if you can see a nest that's been disturbed. If they are very young then they cannot have travelled far. It's possible that a cat discovered the nest and it's been tipped out of the build site. The darkness & cold are going to be a major problem, as will hunger if the parents are still feeding them. If you can locate (and right it if it's broken) the nest you might be able to put them back.

Sorry not to be more helpful,

Ju

My daughter wrote this BTW :) she has just gone to bed and the 3 baby Robins, Rio, Robyn and Rubee, I know I we shouldn't of named them :| are asleep. 2 were eating the mash potato but the 3rd is very weak, we have said a little prayer for them, at least they are safe, warm and looked after for now. Dont think there is going to much sleep for me tonight
Thanks for the replies :)

My DD (Animal Management graduate) says try them on mushed up cat food and fresh meal worms. They won't thrive on spuds, not enough protein.

Good luck, especially with no3!

Thanks sweetheart. One died during the night and my daughter and I were feeding them this morning. Came back from an appointment at noon and another one has died :( I know its nature, but I will try the mashed up catfood on the remaining one. My daughter is going to be heartbroken if they all die, but I have said they are very weak and that the outcome might not be good  I will try my hardest to keep this one alive.

Poor little things, hope the last one survives :(

This is so very sad,I love all animals and I REALLY hope the little guy makes it!

Stick them in a pie, low carb and a bit of protein !

Sorry, couldn't resist ! I've had a similar experience many years ago, [mod edit: word removed] cat got all five.

Lots of tears from all the family......

Sad news, Baby Robin No 3 died just before 4pm today. Daughter very very upset, but I have buried him in the garden with a small flower arrangement on the top. Nature bloody well sucks at times :x

Very sad to hear about baby number 3! Nature really does seem so cruel sometimes but at least they spent their final hours with people who cared and tried their best for them like you guys did.
