BACK FROM HOSPITAL STAY

Hello folks, sorry i've not been on for over a week but that's due to me being admitted to hospital last Monday and being let out this morning. After being ill for a week before being admitted with severe stomach ache and vomiting i wentr to my GP last Monday and told him how i'd been. He took one look at me and told my daughter who was with me to take me straight to the MRI. Within 2 hours of arriving at hospital i was on the medical asessment ward with a sliding scale insulin pump in my arm. For 3 days after that i was still really ill but then they found out that i had a viral infection which was making matters worse. Anyway they released me this morning (thank god) and i'm getting readings of 9 on average which as some of you know is positively a hypo for me :) . So i was back at my GP's this morning and he gave me a sick note for 2 weeks, as he said to start with, then he would assess me then again. I'm now on 20 units of Novomix 3 times a day which seems to have worked wonders.

Once again thanks for all the support from you all

Thank goodness Hazey that you're all ok now but sorry that you've had to spend a week in hospital.

Glad the insulin dose has been sorted out a bit better for you. My advice was going in the right direction lol :)

Welcome back, Hazey - we keep wondering where & how you are. You're a bit of a comet, coming & going.

What diet advice are you now working to? How often have they advised you to check your BS?

Good to hear from you again Hazey, sounds like things are better and healthier already, keep it up, all this worry about you has given me 5 new white hairs!

All the best to you

Hi folks, i've not been given any spacific dietry advice even though i spent the week in hospital as i'm still waiting for an appointment with a dietitian. What i have been doing is looking through the site for other diabetics tips and trying those, as you are all fully aware it's trial and error but i'm getting there (5.8 this morning, Whoopee). I've been told to test at least 6 times a day, before and 2 hours after each meal and any other time that i may feel unwell or a little funny which with my new lower levels i'm taking some time getting used to. I've been told to exercise now so i've invested in a mountain bike so i can start with slow gentle rides over short distances and then gradually increase it. It seems quite strange even though i really struggled last year because i think i already had the diabetes, i did 6 10km runs and a half marathon all for charity which took me all year to recover from. I believe i'm through the honeymoon period now and i readily accept that i've got to make changes, however, i't definitely isn't going to stop me from getting fit and diong virtually what i want when i want, that's once i've got over this horrible viral infection :( . Once again i'm totally thankful and grateful to all you wonderful and supportive people who i can turn to at any time for help. :D

I promise to keep in touch and not cause any more grey hairs or do an impression of a comet.

God bless and keep you all safe !!!
