Hi :wave: Phew, I'm so glad to be home :D I didn't have an operation today, but I have been booked in for Wednesday 28th August.

I have a Retina hole, they were talking of 'surgery' under local anaesthetic today and they started telling me the procedure but I couldn't cope with it. It made me feel sick I said I just couldn't do it, I did think about it being less complicated and quicker but I knew I just couldn't have all that done to my eye without a GA.

Mr Newton told me that I am not to work, to take things easy and the operation will help my eye but I will lose about 80% of my vision in the eye, but without the operation, maybe no vision in the right eye. I have also been signed off sick for 2 weeks, but I'm self employed, so I'm not sure what to do with the sick note, I don't think it counts :?:

I'm anxious and worried about it, but it will be ok, got to think positively because our eyesight is so very important, so just over a couple of weeks now. I will be careful in what I do and have decided to get the main weekly shopping from Iceland's and get it delivered instead of pulling a heavy shopping trolley home each week, so I don't put any strain or pressure on my eyes.

I am self employed and when I went onto insulin I had to stop driving coaches for 5 months until DVLA re-instated my licence. I was unfortunately not entitled to ESA for this however as they regarded me fit for work (although I was not allowed to work....bizarre) but had I had a sick note I would have been okay to claim.

Now come on RRB you have the best team available there at Southampton. If anyone can work eye miracles the Southampton team can. They are SO good my area eye unit send me to Southampton for remedials just because they ARE the best, so chin up and keep positive ..you know it makes sense :thumbup: :clap: :D
 
RRB - time for you to be both kind and gentle with yourself the next couple of weeks .
Do things to relax and indulge with ...

Pamper YOURSELF - and stay strong and positive :wave:

Use this time to treat yourself to a mood music soak in bubbly bath .
Maybe have a beauty manicure/pedicure treatment .

Ask your 'daughter' to read a favourite book to you .
This way its no eye strain and you can still enjoy a book !

You did a hard thing today and it will have shaken you up regardless .

Time for 'you' and loads of cuddles too needed .

Good to know you are back home that is a relief....so will the 28th be a relief....by then you will of had more time To cope with the operation which you need......
You can do this....you are really brave and have great courage....meanwhile look after yourself s d just take it easy things are going to get better for you....
