I think it is a good sign - your metabolism is reacting to your good control and is doing something - something entirely unfathomable, but there is something going on.
Perhaps we need to trust our bodies again - yes they have failed to cope with the modern diet, but with a little help things can become good again, even though it can feel like we are being shaken up to see what drops out at some times.
@Rhubarb completely understand your frustration. When I was on hol in Cornwall in July I ate fish every day and was completely happy and never saw such great BG numbers. Maybe after your hols you are the same? I find I can get very wound up by life without even knowing it, just coping. I am putting that and a virus down to my recent run of poor control bcause am not eating dangerously. Diabetes sure does keep you guessing. It wont stay the same for long.I wish it would do something else! If my metabolism wants to do something it can flipping well do something useful.
I have decided that when this happens to me, if there is no obvious reason and I feel physically ok, I’m just going to go with
All we can do is keep trying, keep smiling and having a little rant if we need too.
But I'm frustrated. Brings some of the upset and fear of diagnosis back to the surface. Want to stay in control but this is reminder that I can only do so much.
I think mine is utilising protein too well too. 10s for fbg no matter how much basal insulin. Unless I hit myself with novarapid before bed do I get 6s. Which isn't advisable incase of hypo through night. Toujeo300 isn't ideal insulin for weight loss, it's too clever.I managed 4 years of good control on a low carb diet (< 50gms a day), Hba1C always in the low 40s. Then something changed, my metabolism got much better at using protein it would seem. BG was all over the place and Dawn Phenomena was a right pain in the back side.
Presently I'm vegetarian Monday to Friday, so just eating meat at weekends. I do eat cheese during the week and along with milk (tea/coffee) that's my only source of protein. I eat lots of courgette, onion, mushroom, peppers, aubergine, broccoli, cauliflower, leeks, tomatoes, kale, cabbage, Brussel sprouts. Roasted, steamed, souped, so I don't starve. I'm in the 6s and 7s most of the time.
