Resently i fractured my foot and needed to take some time of work , whilst this was happening the home i worked at closed down . I have got into a really bad habit of sleeping during the day and being up all night , my gp will not give me any sleeping tablets cause she says they are addictive . This is affecting my health as my insulin regieame has gone out the window . Any advice

try and get sleeping pattern back on track if you can avoid sleeping in the day and then have a early night or just have a 1 hour nap in the day and then hope you go to sleep.

I suffer with not sleeping too

@jesse112 I can't sleep at night either but due to the fact I only seem to sleep about 3hrs a fay & its always in the afternoon.

However, my GP has given me 7 sleeping tablets before, 1 a night for a week to get into a routine. They only gave me 7 because they are so addictive. When they ran out, I got tablets from Boots pharmacy which are just as good.

You could always try just buying Nytol or something and seeing if that helps you at night

A lot of GPs will prescribe a few day's worth of sleeping tablets. I went through a bout of insomnia & I got a three day course, which was more than enough to get back into a regular pattern. You should totally ask again though, maybe she's just being cautious. I imagine a lot of people feign "insomnia" just to get the tablets! :)

Bad Sleep and blood glucose disorders go hand in hand.
One of the symptoms of fluctuating levels is disruptive sleep and insomnia.

Don't do the sleeping tablets, in my personal experience they don't do nothing but give you a few hours rest, and then after a while you can't sleep without them.

Don't do the nytol, as its not recommended for diabetics, too many bad ingredients.

You have to learn again to go to bed at around the same time, get up the same time, maybe do a little bit more exercise, get yourself tired, a natural tired and most importantly of all, control of your blood glucose levels. Control and consistent normal blood glucose levels will give you a better life and then things will settle down and you will sleep naturally.

Depression (you said you lost your job) could be a cause. There are antidepressants with a sedative nature. Good painkillers for the foot too. Avoid benzodiazepines, just try and try to get back to your old regime. It's hard to do, easily said. :)

Never had trouble sleeping that is until I got the Diabetes...now wake up all hours of the night ....and I love my sleep usually
