I've not seen this detailed list before and was intrigued to see Plate/Bowl Size identified. One of the early things I did was to find smaller plates and bowls and to a certain extent smaller forks and spoons. I easily conned myself into believing that less was definitely just as much if not even more when served up this way !...The 42 factors that affect blood glucose are often referenced ...
Yes I'm testing 2 hours before and 2 hours after, written down all meals and compared the same meal, I've, on occasions, gone up to 15mmol, not often but sometimesWelcome vince
Are you testing before you start your meal and 90 to 120 minutes later? Its the difference between the two that tells us how well or otherwise we have handled that meal.
Someone who doesn't have T2 would typically be back close to their starting level within 2hrs, so this is what most of us aim for
Usually you need to test a particular meal or food several times and at different times of the day to really understand how it affects you.
Thanks Robbity,When checking what effects a given meal may have, you need to test immediately (or at least as close as possible) before you begin eating to provide an accurate starting glucose level. Levels aren't static so testing 2 hours before your meal leaves the possibility of changes for other reasons well before you ever start eating, so you'll not get a true picture of what effects any carbs may have.
