Today for breakfast, I had omelette etc. and I usually have beans with egg (poached of course) or with an omelette.
So I decided that my mid morning snack would be just beans so I could test 2 hours after. (I luuuuuuuuuurrrrvvvee beans!)
So before I ate I had a BSL of 4.3. After two hours the low sugar variety from Tesco came in at 6.4
So for my afternoon repast, I had the same variety and drained the juice. My BSL was 4.8 and two hours after 5.7!
So the difference was 2.1 with juice and 0.9 without! They weren't as nice without the juice, but just shows how much sugar is in the juice.
Gonna have a go at Asda low sugar and then Heinz! Don'y you love all this testing?
By the bye, I missed the low GI bread at my bakers, so I went the co-op and they had a new range of seeded loaf, never had my specs with me, and the colours were green for carbs etc. so I bought it, guess what? It was in disguise, it was a white flour loaf pretending to be a low GI loaf! Took it back!

I've had to give up on beans. I always had Heinz beans on toast two or three times a week. Sooooooooooooo good for you. BUT they spiked me through the roof, and the low sugar ones were no different. Definitely confined to the future when I can cope with a few. I read on here ages ago about washing the beans to remove all the juice, but the juice is the best bit. Lol.

I'm on an apple pad! Mmmmmmm! What's an URL?, what's right click?, what's http?In case it helps: triple click the url bar, the one at the top of the browser (starts off with http:// etc). This should highlight the whole thing (url). Then put the mouse pointer into that highlight and right click and select copy. Then move the mouse to the posting are, right click and select paste. add a space.
Unless of course you are using an Apple (which is of course bad on low carb), in which case you are on your own.

How did you get your test strips? I was diagnosed a month ago, I was given a meter and 10 test strips. When I've enquired about getting some more strips, I've been told that to give me a prescription would be against NICE guidelines and that the ten strips was enough for me to learn about my blood sugar. When I disagreed she said there wasn't anyone to sign the prescription!

Sorry Eurobuff, but you will have to buy your own strips. Most of us non-insulin Type 2's have to do this. It's all to do with cost cutting.
Do you drive for a living?Does this apply if you drive? I've managed to download the NICE guidelines which mentions about driving
