New here finding my way around. I have a question. Has anyone changed from Lantus to the new Basaglar long acting insulin? My insurance comp does not cover Lantus any longer. Thanks

Hi @Vikki_jade

I was previously on Levemir but it wasn't working so well for me so my consultant mentioned a new insulin called Abasaglar. So far for me I have found it has made a difference which is great! I do find it leaves a little sting in my leg after for a little bit but once it passes I'm fine.

:)

I was not aware there was a new type, is lantus being phased out?

I actually thought Basaglar was a new species of Amazonian jaguar! I'm now pretty disappointed, but my questions still remains, is my beloved lantus going away?

I take 10 units of Lantus before bedtime. Last night for the second time my Blood sugar reading dropped suddenly from 8.7 to 2.9 within an hour leaving me quite shaky. My wife thinks I may have injected into a blood vessel. Is this possible? Has anyone had a similar experience?
