Basal insulin test query

Hi

Just wondering if this looks right. I tried a "no carb" lunch of lettuce, cucumber, red pepper, red onion and 2 boiled eggs. My BG was 5.8 (6.1 on my libre - the first "note" on the graph) before eating, 8 an hour later (second "note) and 5.1 (4.4 on my libre) after four hours (last "note"). No unusual activity (spent the afternoon on the sofa), no recent hypos or hypers in the last 24 hours.

Was a bit surprised by the rise in BG, and slightly unnerved by the continuing drop afterwards - does this look "normal" or should I be thinking about reducing my basal abasaglar dose?

Thanks!

Sadly, there is no "normal" in diabetes management. If I did the same test I would get different results to you and if you did the same test several days in row, you may see different results each time too.
I find that eggs can be a bit strange. If I eat say, eggs on toast, then I ignore the eggs and only inject for the carbs in the bread. If I eat eggs on their own or in a salad then I may have to take some insulin.
At what time did you take your Abasaglar?

Kind of winging it tbh. Generally lunchtimes are OK on a 1:10 ratio, evenings 1:20.. breakfast seems to be impossible to get right - I know that porridge (25g carbs; 5 units insulin will make me really dip after an hour and half/two hours, and then shoot right up again.

I've been trying beans on toast instead this week (100g beans @15g, 1 slice of wholemeal warburtons @9g) - 5 units of insulin = hypo, 4 units = the same, 3 units = spike.

I'm getting really lost with this.

..and even more lost this evening.
I had homemade chicken curry with rice for tea (20g carbs) and no bolus insulin - pre meal my bg was 5.7, 1 hour later 6.1 and 6.2 after 2 hours.
I'm going to assume that I need to reduce my basal, and that mornings are always going to be impossible.

I need much less insulin later in the day than in the morning, and I find dosing for any substantial carbs in my first meal pretty much impossible as well.
Which doesn't mean my mornings are impossible, it just means my first meal is very low carb, I can dose for that without high spikes.

Panic ate a 5g carbs nice biscuit (I know.) just after posting last night, and went to bed on 8.4 around midnight.

This morning I woke up with a 4.7 at 7am, tried 4 spoons of Greek yoghurt and a teaspoon of peanut butter (around 5g carbs total?) with no bolus - was at 9 and rising an hour later so took 2 units of novorapid and by lunchtime (12:45) was down to 7.3.

I tried a no-breakfast/no-bolus morning last week and just skyrocketed.

Some quite heavy swearing going on at the moment.
Had an omelette, some salad and a slice of bread for tea an hour ago, no bolus, took abasaglar about 10 min later; was 5.8 before I started eating, now 5.3 (fingerpricks vs libre have been within 1.5- 0.5 mlolol today)
