Basal insulin (Tresiba) when change of season

I'm type 1 for 40 yrs and i use tresiba from last year.
I've noticed that 2/3 times in a year i have to significantly change the units of Tresiba that i do every day, this happens when the season change (as ex in these days). As ex, until last week i was doing 30 units and the blood sugar started to rise and now i have again the correct blood sugar with 40 units (+25%). The same think happens in november/december when i have to reduce the units (-25%). Someone has similar experiences?

I am finding the opposite, I am also on Tresiba and (even though I am honeymooning) I have had to drop my Tresiba due to the warm weather ( I guess your body uses energy keeping you cool?). I would have thought it would use more energy keeping you warm. Maybe it does its just me and my half functioning pancreas?
 
Hi Luca, I'll tag @robert72 into your thread as he uses Tresiba insulin.

However many of us find that our basal requirements change with the seasons, like @ElkBond I use slightly less in the warmer months than I do in the cold, on MDI it was a 2u difference.
 
Dear Luca (by the way, we might be living in the same country but of course I'll keep writing in English),
I have been type 1 for over 30 years and in my experience seasonal changes in insulin requirements have always been the rule. As far as I am concerned, warm weather brings the need for a sharp lowering of insulin doses (not only basal, but also fast-acting), a trend which is reversed in autumn/winter. I hear that this is the case for the majority of T1, but it can also be that for some people it works the other way round.
Be it as it may, it's no big surprise, as diabetes management is in itself a matter of keeping up pace with ever-changing conditions (weather, physical activity, illnesses, stress and burdens, hormonal changes, food, age, you name it!). Therefore, no fixed routine is going to work well for more than a short spell…
 
I have had to drop my Tresiba from 16 to 14 units over the last few days. I would agree that basal rates are affected by warmer weather - I also had this with Lantus.
