Basal rate going down

My little one is 4 years old, he goes to school in August and we have just started to include him in sports activities.

The problem is, his basal rate has gone down by, sometimes over half what it was six weeks ago. He's been tested for coeliac and will be tested for thyroid later this month. His diabetic team have said sometimes this happens with little ones and ther is no explanation. Anyone encountered anything similar?

Hi @LeighBee38 :)
how long is your little one diagnosed ??
the reason I ask is he may be going through a "honeymoon " period - where his pancreas produces some insulin thus reducing the need for as much injected insulin.

if you can afford it -- it might be worth investing in the Abbott Libre ( this will constantly monitor your son's BG's )
I would ask the DSN if she thinks it a viable short / medium term solution.

Hi! He's been diagnosed 2 years and has been on the Libre meter since Jan. We've taken all the basal rates down and he still seems to be dropping. We are waiting for tests for coeliac and thyroid, but they were all normal the last time. I'm petrified he has Addisons Disease.
