I have tried to do my three day basal average for the morning whilst fasting. My blood sugars are usually better at this time:

7am: 5.5
8am: 6.4
9am: 7.7
10am: 7.5

Do I need to adjust my basal rate based on these readings?

Hi @slayer , we cannot give dosing advice on the forum.

Those numbers look pretty good to me!
You see a bit of a rise after getting out of bed, which happens to many of us. It's called Foot on the Floor effect, your helpful liver dumping some glucose in your bloodstream to help get you going for the day.
But it only raises you to 7.5, which is well within range for a T1. :)

You really need to do a basal test at multiple time periods in the day to get a true idea.. I however suspect that you wouldn’t want to raise the basal too much or you’d risk being too low at 7am or before

If your bg continues to rise by noon then you always have the option to have a correction dose with the bolus at mealtime

You also need to discuss with the care team if they expect you to make you own decision on dosages some don’t like unapproved changes

Me… I would be ok either those numbers even on a pump they consider 70% of the time under 9.9 to be good

Another thing to always remember is the tighter control you have the more risk there is, not only to you but those around you

My Target BG is 6 - so if I fasted for half a day (or a whole day...which MUCH is harder to do :-) ) I'd try and tweak my basal to hit that (more or less) only really worrying if it gets higher or lower than I felt comfortable with.

If you confirm after a couple of days your pattern is the same you might want to tweak the higher readings down just a tad, but to be honest it looks pretty good to me.

Basal readings are not consistent (warm weather, cold weather, stress, more or less exercise) so its about getting an average when you think you're being consistent over a few days
