Finally managed to do my second basal testing!
Results were better than last time but not perfect.
Consultant has been in touch and said to increase morning basal by 6u and evening by 2u which puts me at 38u pm and 32u am.

Hopefully that's it now. I don't think I'll be able to cope with bigger doses!

I'm really annoyed that I've had high bloods for a good number of years now and no one has ever mentioned basal testing to me before. I've had to increase it by 20u over all!!

Thanks! I'm trying to only eat carbs in the evening so I'll be able to see what's going on :)

Hopefully the increased doses will resolve your problems Indiana :)

Basal testing has always been around but there's so many people don't know how to do it correctly, even some DSN's get it all wrong, The best advice about basal testing is in Gary Scheiners book Think Like a Pancreas.

I've got the book, trying to find time to read it!

I'm just a bit annoyed that I could have done this years ago if someone had told me about it, I see a different doctor every time I go, you would have thought one of them would have known about it!
I've only been told about it by a pump doctor. I'm glad I met him!

Remember that once you've got your basal doses right they may still change from time to time. If your bloods start to look abnormal regularly check basal doses first before anything else.
