Why should people with diabetes not have hot baths? What is the reason?

Thank you for your reply. I was diagnosed with pre diabetics and bg is normal levels now. Should I not be having hot baths? I do feel dizzy when I get out, is this likely to be related to the pre diabetes?

I have always felt a bit dizzy after a hot bath. Nothing to do with diabetes in my case. It is very common for blood pressure to drop after a bath, which is the cause in my case.
Diabetics with neuropathy have to be extremely careful with having a bath due to loss of sensation in the hands and feet, for type 1's a hot bath can be dangerous if they have taken quick-acting insulin in the hours leading up to the bath, heat speeds up the rate in which insulin is absorbed so it can lead to hypo's.
