I have taken Branch Chain Amino Acids in the past and as far as I can tell they did me no harm though I'm not sure that they did me any good either.

Why would you take supplements because you’re diabetic?

Seems to supply an essential nutrient (Leucine) that we need but do not manufacture aourselves. It is found in muscle tissue. So some diets that avoid animal products may need supplementation. It is also a nutrient that older people may not absorb from their diet. It is most usually used by body builders and athletes. It seems to be benigh.

I’m sure if you eat a normal healthy diet you would get everything you need. I don’t take any supplements.

Its not always the case and everyone is different. I take a supplements and herbs for my joints and I don't seem to be doing too bad at 54. Rather that than pharmaceutical's ;)

I take certain supplements too, and have always had a healthy diet - I'm a nutrition geek. However, each of us uses nutrients differently, and foods are not uniform in the nutrients they contain or make available to us, especially vegetables. As we age we may need more or less of a particular item, or become sensitive to things we could easily manage before. We are dynamic beings, and nutrients can be fragile things.

Yes, of course you can take supplement even if you are diabetic. While the answer is not that simple, it is not difficult either.
If you are a diabetic person, a supplement with B12 vitamin may be beneficial in type 2 diabetes.
And if you take other medicines for diabetes, it is better to consult your dietician and doctor for supplement intake.

Hope it helps.
