New member here and I had a little scare with my feet. So, I figure it is about time I actually take care of them while at the beach.

Who has used aqua socks, water shoes, etc...? I want something that is going to be able to be used in the ocean and not keep sand trapped inside. I also want it to look ok since I don't want to look like a fool wearing shoes in the water. I don't think I am at risk of anything due to some information from my podiatrist. My primary care physician stated that I had lost the "safety feeling" that makes you draw back from pain in my foot. My podiatrist did the same test and said I passed since only my big toe was where I had failed and the other places I could feel the prick of the tool and that I also had a strong pulse going into my feet.

But, better safe than sorry, know what I mean?

I have some fairly OK looking water shoes, which I must confess I only use when in very stony or cloudy water, although I still luckily have full feeling in my feet, and being a pretty bendy person I can do a decent inspection of my feet.

If you do a Google images search, that'll help you to understand the variety of looks, colours and prices you can find. I particularly wanted something that would float and didn't look too "surgical. I ended up with something looking a bit like a trecking sandal.

I'd say it's important to consider whether you intend to swim in the sandals or if you just want them for walking around and in the shallows.

I was actually looking at those Vibrams due to the reviews. I was thinking to myself "I"ll never get the ones that look like those crazy gloves for feet" and then to find out it is one of the best reviewed ones.

I'll be swimming in the ocean, but not going to deep. I'll be going down with family and my sister and myself are the only ones that go in with all the nieces and nephews. So, I know I'll be in the ocean most of the time. I think I might have to bite the bullet and order those since I go in less than two weeks.

Thanks for the input. I greatly appreciate it.
