Bed time blood sugars

Hi

Do you guys have an aim for a bedtime blood sugar level before letting your children sleep. We are starting to feel like we are having some control for the first time. I read somewhere that 10 is a good level for sleep? Last night at 7 my daughter was 6.7 and we gave her a handful of cashews and she was 9.7 through the night and 6.4 waking. This felt good to us as she is recently diagnosed and been running high for the three weeks since diagnosis.

I'd like to know other people's thoughts
Thanks
Stuart

Hi
It's great to hear you are getting you daughters level under control my son is 10 diagnosed last December has been on a pump since July we have our good days and then we have our not so good days, sometimes the levels are pretty unexplainable so don't feel that your doing anything wrong. As for bedtime we aim for 7-9ish if he's any less than 5 then e find 100-150ml of milk helps to keep him going through the night, hopefully this is helpful good luck hope you can keep her levels good

Thanks for the reply. I think we are going to dry adjusting the basal this evening as we have been suffering from a plummet between 3 in the morning and breakfast time which is a bit scary! I think milk might be a good idea plus perhaps a few nuts

Don't worry about hypos my doctor has said that six is a good level to be at and you can't stop hypos it's now a natural thing just be calm and let her be as good as she can be obviously you have to treat them and if she doesn't want to sit down put her favourite to show on mine is usually seven and fine in the morning and if she randomly starts having hypos all the time it's the honeymoon period where the pancreas is making a bit more insulin but it's fine it goes away after about two weeks just remember to stay calm otherwise your daughter might be stressed and unhappy if you are hope this helped
