Beet root juice and type two

Has anyone used beet root juice as a daily supplement and if so, how was is? I am recently diagnosed and playing around with various things. I am back in the gym and running my little old legs off and have read good things about beet root juice.

What have you heard about it and what do you want it to do?
I did a search on pub med and just 1 trial came up for diabetes and beetroot juice.
One used either 250ml a day for two weeks or a placebo drink for the same amount of time. There were no changes in either insulin sensitivity or endothelial function (ie the condition of the lining of the blood vessels)
