Before I diagnosed my condition with diabetes

I always got up at night so I felt hungry and shivering. Was this because of diabetes and I did not know ?
I did not feel good until after eating sweet tea
I think maybe it was a drop in blood sugar
But I did not take any medication
 
The symptoms you describe could have been either high blood sugars or a sudden drop from too high to lower than your body was used to at the time, which could be why a sweet drink made you feel better. It doesn't necessarily mean you were in hypo land. The hunger could have been carb hunger - a problem we can have when eating too many carbs. (They make us hungry).

I think I was drinking more than sweet tea before bedtime (sleep)

Maybe this is consistent with what you mentioned
 
It soundsSounds like the blood sugar roller coaster where sugrs rise and then crash back downcrash
