Type 2 Bempedoic acid instead of statins

Has anyone else with high cholesterol switched to Bempedoic acid instead of a statin (Atorvastatin in my case)?

I was very reluctant to start taking statins as I’d heard they can worsen diabetes, and this seemed to be reflected in my blood tests 3 months after reluctantly agreeing to take Atorvastatin.

I started taking Bempedoic acid /ezetimine instead, about 2 months ago and have just put on a cgm to see how things are going. My blood sugar levels have dropped by quite a lot ( a base line around 6 rather than 7.5) and the spikes are much reduced. (Rarely over 9).

I’m very pleased, but wondering if others have had this experience.

No, but I have used Ezetimibe which I think is the same. I would advise doing reseach into this medication as it has some very disturbing side effects, and I have dropped it like a hot potato. It is not as benign as the GP told me it was. It is certainly not a sweetie, and IMO should only be offered when there is a clear clinical need such as hypercholesterolemia.

PS I presume those graphs are with different sensors on the CGM.

Thanks for your reply. The graphs are from screenshots from Feb cgm readings and last week’s readings (May). Luckily I’ve experienced no side effects, but my latest readings seem much improved on those taken when I was on statins.
