Benefit & Entitlements Eligibility for T1 Children

Hi
My son has T1 he is two and a half
My son gets the middle band of DLA as standard. “ this is automatic after application” £44 per week.
My wife is entitled to carers allowance £53.13 per week, as she looks after him more than 35 hrs a week as long as she does not earn more than £95.00 per week after tax.

It would be interesting to know other benefits, grants etc. available to children,
in the end of the day if not presently required it could go a long way towards future, treatment when older, funding consumables for a pump if the local PTC did not fund this etc.

You'll be glad to know that Callums DLA should increase after the age of 5 to about £63 per week (my 11 yr old gets it for low rate mobility and medium rate personnal care), Mum's carers allowance will remain the same. Then you have to re-apply at the age of 12 to get it continued, though i have found that i have to re-apply every 2 years, which is a strain on my sanity :lol: I don't know of any other entitlements, though i do know that you can get funded Diabetic camp holidays through Diabetes UK.
