There's no point as you wont get any more benefits for it. Just mention it on the renewal form when it comes through.

It goes on a case by case situation I am on ESA for type 2

Type 2 diagnosed 24/01/2013.
NovoRapid, Lantus, Victoza, Metformin (sr), Simvistatin

How does ESA work? I'm on JSA, volunteering a couple of hours a week, but honestly struggling.

Ally is already on ESA and in the support group with no assessment due until next year. So no point in making the paper mountain any bigger and delaying payments and or assessments for people that haven't gone through the system yet. In other words there is no benefit to Ally at all in telling dwp of her extra diagnoses. :)

pop into the jobcentre and ask them
Thanks. I have previously and was put off saying it was only more paperwork for me to fill out and I'd be better just sticking to JSA to save any delays in payments etc. Never got explained the ins and outs of how it works.

I am also receiving ESA and in the support group and also get DLA as I am disabled. I haven't informed them that I'm now T2 for either benefit. Maybe I'm wrong for the way I think but I don't feel the need to inform them as my diabetes is nothing to do with my original claims and I only thought you were supposed to inform them if your circumstances from the original claim changed, i.e your condition improves or deteriorates. Mine hasn't changed, just the diabetes came along and that doesn't effect my disability.

I can see the reason for not saying, but be very careful these day as you have to declare any changes in your health and if you don't and found out you could loose your benefits and get prosecuted

You wouldn't get into any trouble for an added health problem though, it's when people improve and don't inform them that they prosecute. You're not doing anything wrong by not telling them of an extra diagnosis, especially when if anything it would be making your situation worse...

Type One Diabetes since 2001, Coeliac Disease since 2003 ish, IBS, and on and off depression and diabulimia.
