moaning people who have nothing wrong with them
my partner works full time i find it very hard to get a job now with my type 1 and i am always having hypos no matter how hard i try to control my diabetes.I do get dla but only the lowest amount for care component.I know i can only do certain types of jobs like most type 1s does anyone know if i can claim any other type of benefit.

Pop yourself along to your local CAB and ask them for a full benefit check.

We can only give you a general idea on what ppl are entitled to as some circumstances effect benefits claimed and the rules around all benefits are subject to change!!!!

The CAB can and will do a full benefit check to make sure you are claiming the right benefits and can help with form filling

To get high rate DLA care you need to demonstrate care needs during the night usually which should be easy if you are prone to bad hypos (similar issues to nocturnal seizures in epilepsy)

Im sure you've already checked this out with the appropriate medical personnel but you shouldnt have to live a life where hypos are so debilitating that you cant hold down a job. Are they saying why you keep having hypos?

If thats the case, there are usually Disability advisors for work who could perhaps look at possible careers/jobs that might suit?
 
Hi lilibet i was diagnosed type 1 in 1970 i had just started my first job after leaving school and started with the symptons of thirst hunger rapid weight loss etc.was in hospital for 2 weeks and when i went back in work next week the boss called me in and said "i know you are not in a wheelchair but would you like to go on a green card classed as a disabled person?I was only 17 and was really worried but he said i know you are not disabled but if you have a green card and reduncies come up you will be quite safe because you are classed as having a disability.Because i was so young i said ok.Anyway i worked there for 9 years and then tried another job (which you could in those days and then worked in the mod for 14 years left to have a family then looked after my mum and dad who were ill.Now i am in my fifties have tried for loads of jobs but now have loads of hypos no matter how good i try to control my blood sugars.I know my partner works full time and i do get the lowest care component but i still thought i could get some other kind of benefits
