I know we are all differant and foods act in each of us in various ways but what foods do you all recommend to eat? Im trying my hardest to reduce carbs and have so far lost 9lbs in 3 weeks but more tips would be good. Here is a list of what i have eaten today: breakfast: oats with some natural fat free yogurt and a few berries. Lunch: mackerell smoked fish with a mixed salad made of lettuce, couple cherry tomatoes, gerkins and olives. Dinner: small steak stir fried veg mini corn onions mushrooms and peppers. One spoon of brown basmati rice stir fried in an egg.....am i on the right track?

What's your goal through all of this? It's hard to tell if you're on the right track without knowing what you ate before, or what you hope to accomplish through all of this.

It sounds like you're losing weight at an aggressive (but not unhealthy) rate. How have your blood sugar levels been since making these dietary changes?

If your goal is strictly to reduce your carbs then the oats, the fat free yogurt, the berries, corn, and rice all need to go.

Are you testing your blood glucose?
Eating to your meter will be a better guide than any of us. :)

For ME avocado is my best diabetic friendly food. Very satisfying as well as bs stabilizing. I don't go a day without it. I smash it with sea salt and eat it with celery or a spoon. No chips of course.

Hi. Check that the yogurt doesn't have added sugar. Berries are often OK but check the portion size. Overall your carbs look quite low so I would have thought you are on a good track and it appears to be working based on weight loss.

My nurse said 35g of oats aday is ok becausr they are a slow release carb. I only have a couple tablespoons of yougurt and maybe id say 4 berries. I feel so much better in myself. I have another bs fasting test in june to see how things are going. When i got diaganosied my fasting text was 7.9 so not mega high but high enough to be diabetic. I had no symptoms at all was only tested because i had a cyst that ive had for two years and decided to get it removed. Hopefully my new life style change will help me :)

Berries aren't too bad in small doses.. personally I can't tolerate porridge oats so make a porridge out of almond flour (ground almonds) . You could make 'almoats' - 1/2 oats 1/2 almond flour (or coconut flour also works) that way you halve the carbs in the porridge instantly (or thereabouts). If you use no added sugar almond or soya milk then you reduce the carbs even more. Its all about finding substitutes IMHO

If you haven't already got one, en seriously consider getting a blood glucose meter.

It will soon tell you if you can tolerate oats.
