Am type 2, treated with tablets, my old wavesense machine only shows glucose levels not hba1c levels which I understand are more accurate, GP has told me to only check about 10 days prior to blood tests and is there an easy way to convert blood sugar level to hba1c levels please, if my glucose should be between 4 & 7 what hba1c is that please

its a completely different test.you monitor can test for bg and ketones, some may attempt to give you an average but thats not what your doctor is testing for.

Monitors are like mobile phones, they all do the basics exactly the same, the more expensive ones look better and have extra functions you probably don't need. The cost is in the ongoing price of the test strips so many people go for the SD Codefree or the TEE2 which have the cheapest.

Hb1AC is an average all the time over about 3 months. No finger prick reader can calculate this: it has no clue what happens to your BG when you are asleep, for example.
Some meters may suggest they can calculate an approximate hb1AC. However, this is not very accurate.
However, high peaks are what will push up your hb1AC. Therefore, many people manage their diabetes by using their meter to work out causes these highs and avoid these foods, stress, activities.
This will require far more tests than once every 10 days.
Take a look for posts and articles on "eating to your meter".
