I went to see terminator last night and loved it. It got me thinking though what's the best movie? I can't decide. Thoughts?

I loved the first Terminator back in the eighties, when it was not box office, it was more of a cult film or b movie!

I loved Zulu, when I was a teenager.

As I'm a trekkie, Insurrection, then The Voyage Home.
I like the new ones as well.

Tolkien, the trilogy and The hobbits films are well made. Buying don't watch many movies!

Love your choices there I agree the original are always the best. I went to see mad max last month I found it was awful so self indulgent where as the original is perfect.

Love a bit of Star Trek! They are all good I think

Difficult, because it depends on my mood. I greatly like:

Sir Henry at Rawlinson End
Withnail and I
Lost in Translation
Animal House
Local Hero

.. and many more. "Wry comedy" seems to be emerging as the common thread: I don't much care for "Lord of the Hobbit at Twilight" - type films, or the kind of traditional bloke fare where people splatter each other with massive weapons. I love many French films (no, not that kind ), such as Les Amants du Pont Neuf, Delicatessen, The Hairdresser's Husband, Jean de Florette, Betty Blue: you name it, really .......

Find it too difficult to pick my favourite film of all time, probably Saving Private Ryan would be up there with the best.

Watched 12 Years a Slave last night, very powerful movie with some fine acting.

Whenever I'm feeling a bit ordinary, I watch the film " Genevieve " and it always cheers me up.
I first saw it with my lovely Papa, when I was about 6 or 7 years old,

I am a horror addict. I have over 400 hundred of them. Psychological, Slasher, Foreign, Cult but one of my favourite films of all time is actually "Twelve Angry Men" with Henry Fonda, Jack Klugman, Ed Begley, Lee J Cobb, Jack Warden, E G Marshall to name a few of the incredible cast.

Wonderful Film. I have been trying to find it on DVD for years. I could watch it over and over !

Kevin, I have it on DVD, bought it from a charity shop, I love the oldies and this film is a classic, fine actors and a brilliant story

I love the horror's and Sci fi too

A five star classic, I love the part when they are having dinner and dancing, then Rosalind gets up............. fantastic Every time I go to London and cross Westminster bridge I think of that wonderful film

I always see something new in it, which makes me smile. The hat in the box...
And the bit where the clock bells start ...and the splendid playing...genius!

Another film I am fond of, having read the book before I was old enough to understand it, was " I capture The Castle" It, too, has some wonderfully funny moments.

Fantastic news RRB. I know I'll get one soon.

Also when Rosalind gets up and plays that trumpet in Genevieve apparently that is her playing it !

Good luck, I just found 12 Angry men without even looking, also found Of Human Bondage, with Bette Davis playing a cockney waitress, a great film about obsession.
Must get Genevieve on DVD
