I am newly diagnosed with diabetes and feel hungry most of the time what's the best to snack on I need to lose weight

Hi @Degger
When were you diagnosed and which type?
I would recommend eating a meal which would keep you full so that you won't crave much. I try to stay away from snacking, but i would eat some sort of fruit usually an apple or one of those small bananas. Also eat a lot of veg and protein and go down on the carbs. Don't forget the regular exercise, which is hard to keep up with.
All the best!!

God! It is a terrible thing, i've had type 1 since 2009. Actually got diagnosed on my mums birthday, you could imagine her shock.
Hope it all goes well, you will get used to it soon.

Hi and welcome to the club. I usually snack on nuts, cheese or some of my low carb baking. What do you generally eat in a day and have you looked into LCHF as it is a great way to lose weight and get your BS down, you never feel hungry and have boundless energy. It doesnt suit everyone but it might be worth looking into. If you wanted to eat fruit I think berries are better for you.

I'm on the LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) regime. When I need to snack it's often a babybel cheese, or some nuts, or, best of all because it's full of protein and yummy fats, pork scratchings!

If you do go onto LCHF then bananas and sugary fruits will be a no-no.

I never snack. I have no need. I eat 3 meals a day and eat enough of the right foods to keep any hunger away. Fats are satiating and will keep hunger away. Carbs will just keep you feeling hungry and wanting more. If you do feel a bit hungry, you may find a cup of tea or glass of water will help.

Hi @Degger
The vast majority of people mistake thirst notifications for hunger. So, when you think you are feeling hungry, drink some water as a first response and see if that does the trick. I keep a small box of nuts in my meds kit that I carry just in case I am out and about and feel peckish - but take it easy with nuts.
The type of food that keeps you full for longer than any other food is thick chunky soup and fat.
For snacks, search the internet for "fat bombs" and prepares a few that you fancy - for instance http://thenourishedcaveman.com/fat-bombs-roundup/

You could also have a go at bulletproof coffee if you like - search on the internet - basically its strong freshly made coffee with unstalted butter and coconut oil blitzed in a blender - sounds crazy but it tastes good and does the trick as a meal replacement (I can go all day on one). Warning: lots of sites want to sell you "special" ingredients for this but it's not necessary if you buy good coffee, butter and coconut oil.

When I cut down on carbs I started feeling less hungry, even when exercising. If I get hungry, I drink water or herbal tea, and if I really need snacks, then I eat cheese or nuts, or start eating a carrot with olive oil while I am preparing my proper meal ;)

Iv been low carving for 3 wks & never feel hungry, my portion sizes are smaller & don't need snacks, I was obsessed with food before!

Now that you mention it - I am a few weeks in, too, and so full after breakfast this morning :hungover:

But like a few others my weight has stuck, may have to reduce portion size perhaps

Same here. I have been wondering. However, when I was low-carbing last autumn, it took a few months and I ended up too thin. So there is hope :p Okay, seriously, my weight-loss was the reason I had stopped low-carb and then gained a bit too much weight, not excessively, but I tend to accumulate it around my tummy. Then I was diagnosed
