the_anticarb said:ScottishBrian is on insulin. Anyone on insulin can eat more carbs and cover it with insulin to avoid high blood glucose. I've done it myself a thousand times and still kept my hba1c low. This often leads to weight gain which for the majority of people including me is unwanted, but in ScottishBrian's case is what he wants.

That's not great advice - at least not if you subscribe to even a little bit of Bernstein's advice - higher doses of insulin lead to potentially larger swings and worse control. I could also eat 'normally' and cover it with insulin but this is lot harder to do than keep my insulin input really low and have very small fluctuations.
