Beta blockers and hypo unawareness

Hi everyone I was put on beta blockers last year and I’ve heard that they can cause hypo unawareness this morning my dose of beta blockers has been upped I was wondering how this might affect my blood sugars and hypo awareness any advice appreciated

Mine did but not now been on double dose for over a year now.
On both occasions of introducing this med I had a little hypo awareness, a few surprises.
That's why they increase this med slowly.

We are all different so just be extra alert it may happen, occasionally.
I hope like me it wares off in time.
Mine only took weeks to stop. Because mine aided my high blood pressure to reduce I feel it slowed me down, hence less hypos too.

Have you checked the side effects of the particular Beta Blocker you are taking? Atenolol is an old drug and there are warnings that it isn't suitable for diabetics. Some of the newer ones, I believe, are more suitable. Quick Googling for research on your specific one may give you the answer.
 
Do the beta blockers really need to be increased if there is another medication which could be used ?
I could not take beat blockers because they make asthma worse. Just so you know.

I just checked the medication I’m on carvedilol and it says carvedilol can cause low blood sugar nothing about hypo unawareness
