Between The Devil and The DeepBlue Sea !!

I am a type 2, have been controlled with 50mg of Sitagliptin and a reduced carb diet. This has worked well for me. However I have a hiatus hernia and I am prone to bouts of gastritis. Currently I am experiencing a bad bout and I am due to see A Gastroenterologist next Monday.

I cannot stomach fat of any kind, my stomach burns literally if I eat any. Therefore I am eating a very bland diet to help to heal the gastritis along with meds ( Esomeprazole 80mg daily) typically, breakfast is a small bowl of porridge, lunch a small slice of wholemeal toast with a poached egg My evening meal has been a small brown roll, with fresh chicken.

I thought about making a sugar free egg custard has anyone got any ideas please :shy:

You really are between the devil and the deep blue sea. I'm sorry to read of your problems. I can't help with the custard, but wish you luck with your specialist next week.

How about sugar free stewed apples? (Or tinned, which is virtually the same thing)

I had a tummy bug a couple of weeks ago, and really struggled to find low carb foods that didn't set it off again - so I feel your pain. Of course yours is lasting a lot longer!

I'll have a think and see if I can come up with anything else.

If you can tolerate porridge, you could probably manage millet porridge (available in health food stores like Holland and Barratt)

And how about slippery elm in those jellies caraway suggested? Very gentle on the tum.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks everyone you are all so kind. Jack,I do sleep propped up on bad days, I do like to snuggle down when I can. I will try all of your suggestions. Hopefully things will settle, I will be having a gastroscopy on the 28th and will know more then.

Thanks once again folks. :)
